Precision, Roll-to-Roll Contract Coating Services

Carestream_Coater_Schematic FINALCarestream Contract Manufacturing offers precision contract coating and development services specializing in the application of aqueous and solvent coatings on flexible substrates for a wide range of industrial, medical, electronic and other advanced materials applications. Our engineers and material scientists build on more than 100 years of coating leadership from 3M and Eastman Kodak Company to deliver problem-solving expertise in roll-to-roll coating applications for optimal product design, technology integration and manufacturing support. Carestream engineers apply knowledge and unique analytical capabilities to identify and develop optimal coating solutions — taking your products from concept to market quickly and efficiently.

Our assets and expertise enable us to create structures of up to 20 precision-coated layers with options for two-sided coating, radiation cure, on-line inspection and lamination in the same pass. Pilot facilities also make Carestream an ideal partner for product development, scale-up and small volume products. Facilities feature over a billion dollars of coating assets plus billions of square feet of capacity. With planning, logistics, finance and purchasing competencies available, we deliver a full supply chain solution to move advanced technology products from benchtop to production. Carestream adheres to exceptional standards of quality and certification and follows GMP Manufacturing practices.

Work with Carestream in two ways:

  • Contract Manufacturing: Carestream Contract Manufacturing will help bring your advanced materials products from benchtop to pilot and rapid scale-up to production – quickly, efficiently, and cost effectively. We help ensure the success of our customers all over the world.
  • Partnering: Partner with us and leverage our advanced technologies and expertise to help you develop better products using coated or cast film-based advanced materials. In certain cases, we operate with shared risk and rewards.

Carestream offers experience with a wide range of coating technologies including slot die, roll, gravure, curtain coating and a number of proprietary methods for both aqueous and solvent coatings. We also feature worldwide capability for flexible converting and packaging of roll or sheet products.

Our ability to coat complex products is demonstrated by what we do with Carestream Dryview Medical Laser Imaging Film. The six-layer film product contains over 25 different components, including nanoparticles, with four layers coated simultaneously on the top of the PET film base and two layers coated simultaneously on the bottom of the film, which are all coated in one pass. Millions of square meters of Dryview Medical Laser Imaging Film are coated every month to meet the stringent requirements of an FDA-regulated Class 1 medical device, proving our ability to tackle even the most challenging coating projects.
